Throwback to 2016!

Is it just me or even you guys feel like 2016 went by with a blink of an eye?! I think this year has been the foundation year of some of the bestest years to come ahead of us  and I'm delighted to have made it through. Surely, it had it's ups and downs, but it has some of the best memories I'll cherish for a lifetime!
I know it sounds very cliche to say that a new year marks the beginning of fresh starts and what not, but it's never too late to start refining yourself to just become a better version of you! So just use the start of the new year as an excuse, maybe? Leave all the negativity behind in 2016 and start working on 2017 and own it! Make it your year and work your ass off to achieve the things you've always wanted to. Be kind and optimistic and good things will happen.
Aditi and I started this blog in January and I think it is one of the most gutsy things we have done in a while and not regretted one second of it. I actually can't believe our first bloggiversary is about a fortnight away! We are also more than happy to announce #20DaysWithMYD from the 1st of January to the 20th! You will see a new post from each and every day for the next 20 days, starting tomorrow. So, brace yourselves! ;)
Apart from our blog, it has also been a great year of firsts for us. I took my very first international trip to Sri Lanka and Aditi had a life changing experience of giving a shot scuba diving for the very first time. She also took her very first solo trip to Rishikesh this year, which I think is absolutely crazy. We also took a great risk and went all out on getting completely new hairstyles. It's a huge thing for us because we never usually mess with things like our hair. :P
Not to forget, the both of us turned 21 this year and entered our final year of engineering. YAY! Oh and I also got see the most magical band, Coldplay, perform live at Mumbai. The feeling was surreal <3

That was our year in a nutshell and we cannot wait to see what 2017 has in store for us :)
We wish you a very Happy and Delightful 2017! Always stay motivated :)

See you guys tomorrow :)
Lots of love,
MYD!

Smaaash Bangalore!

Hey guys!
We got a chance to go to Smaaash last week and we had a blast. Smaaash is India's first Urban Sports Center located in the heart of Bangalore in 1 MG Mall, Bangalore. So this post is going to be about our take on this amazing gaming arcade.

Smaaash is a perfect getaway for your entire family with something for everyone. With Sachin Tendulkar as their Brand Ambassador, Virat Kohli as the Smaaash Youth Icon and Cristiano Ronaldo as their Global Ambassador, Smaaash has some pretty big names associated to it. Founded in 2012, Smaaash is already a favorite among most Bangaloreans.

One of the major attractions of this place are the Virtual Reality games. They were definitely our favorite. It was my first time experiencing VR and it was surreal. With six VR games, Smaaash definitely spoils you for choice.

One of my favorite VR games was Flying Carpet. It is loosely based on Alladin's carpet and makes you feel like you are flying amongst huge buildings and lovely scenery. Finger Coaster gives you a roller coaster experience in which you can design your own 950 mts long coaster and also choose a location for the setting of the coaster. We choose snow as our location and it was brilliant. FlyMax gives you a real life flying experience which was insane. The scariest one has to be Vertigo. It is the most popular VR game in Smaaash. It gives you a feeling that you're walking on a narrow plank between two high rise buildings with a fire breathing dragon trying to stop you! Having vertigo myself, this one gave me the chills. Art of Attack was another VR game and in this one you experience a virtual war zone. You have to fight snipers that are shooting and throwing grenades at you from all directions. The final VR game that I tried was ATV in which you are riding a dirt bike in a secluded desert. The variety of VR games available here is definitely a treat to anyone!

Apart from VR, the major attraction in Smaaash is Cricket. It's a one-of-it's-kind 360 degree cricket simulator where one gets to experience what it's like to play inside a packed stadium. The innovative technology perfectly replicates the bowling actions of the player's heroes. So far, about 47 cricketers from across the globe have signed up to record their actions. It is also home to championship games like Super Keeper and F1 racing. I tried F1 racing and absolutely loved it! There is also a twilight bowling section where you can bowl in incredible lighting. The remaining are the arcade games which are also great fun!

Twilight Bowling

Smaaash is a wonderful place which brings out the child in all of us! It's a great place to unwind and just have fun. They serve beer for Rs 49 on all weekdays between 11 am to 11 pm which is an added bonus ;) There is a 1 + 1 offer on select games, food and drinks every Tuesday so if you want to make the most of the place then you know which day to go! :D

Apart from all of this, they also have India's first carnival themed cafe called Mighty Small which serves some great food and drinks. Smaaash is also hosting a kickass carnival themed New Year Party to bring in 2017 in style. So if you are looking for a place to spend your new year then head to Smaaash and have a gala time! I am sure you'll love the place! Just go there once and you'll get hooked! You can book your passes right here.

For all the college going students out there, Smaaash has a wonderful opportunity for you all! They have a Campus Ambassador program open to all of you except the ones in their final year. The job description includes being the point of contact for anything Smaaash related for their respective college, spreading brand awareness and organizing events either on or off campus. Sounds like a lot of work right? But they have some great perks along with the program like a work certificate, discounted games, payment based on the events organized, access to all Smaaash events, a chance to meet Sachin and Virat and my favorite - a chance to win a free trip to Goa!! All interested can drop in a mail at gladston.sequeira@smaaash.in or a message on +91 9071130099. So what are you waiting for? Go apply! :D

Have a great weekend guys! Enjoy Christmas with lots of cake, presents and love and we will be back next week with another story!

Love,
MYD :)

~ Winter Skin Care ~

Hey guys!
Winter is finally here and it calls for an updated skin care routine. Our skin gets more dry and dull this time of the year and requires us to take extra care to keep it looking healthy and happy. So this post is going to be all about winter skincare and will also include a few home remedies that you could use to keep your skin glowing and full of life.

Tips for healthy skin this winter -

1. Try aloe vera for dry flaky skin. Aloe vera can do wonders to your skin especially during winter. If you happen to have a plant just like how I do at home then you just have to cut one leaf, squeeze out the gel and directly apply it on your face. In case you don't have a plant then you could also buy aloe vera gel online or from a beauty store near you.

2. Do not neglect your lips. Give your lips some TLC by using lip scrubs and heavy lip balms. Using lip scrubs is an essential part of taking care of your lips and preventing them from becoming too dry or flaky. You could get lip scrubs easily from any super market or you could just DIY it. I mix sugar with some coconut oil and scrub my lips with it using an old tooth brush. After scrubbing lock the moisture in by using a heavy soothing lip balm. There are many options available in the market so you could pick whatever you like. I recently discovered the Biotique Bio Almond overnight therapy lip balm and I have been absolutely loving it. I apply a generous coat of it before going to bed and wake up each morning with soft supple lips.

3. Scrubbing your body is equally important but be careful not to over scrub or you'll end up with rashes. Using mild scrubs is the key. Do not use new store bought scrubs as they might irritate. Stick to your old trusted scrubs or just use homemade ones. The coffee scrub is a great alternative to bottled scrubs and it does wonders for your skin be it winter or summer. For the coffee scrub all you have to do is mix coconut oil with some instant coffee and you're done. It's super easy and gives great results. You can also read the other benefits that coffee has in our post right here. :)

4. Switch your usual body lotion for a heavy body cream. You could try the body butter from The Body Shop. If you are looking for cheaper alternatives then Vaseline and Ponds have great heavy body lotions too.

5. Another great way to keep your skin soft and supple is by taking an oil bath at least once a week. It basically just means applying oil all over your body 20-30 mins before taking a bath. Coconut oil is amazing for this.

6. Do not forget to oil your hair before every hair wash!  Oiling your hair preconditions it and keeps dry scalp at bay. It is a great tip to keep your hair shiny and frizz free all winter! I use a mix of Coconut oil and Olive oil as a pre-conditioner. You could also use Moroccon oil if you are trying to grow out your hair quickly.

7. If your feet get too dry during winters then this tip is for you. Apply a thick coat of Vaseline on your feet and wear socks before going to bed. Your feet will be incredibly soft the next day.

8. Mix heavy creams or moisturizers in your foundation to keep your skin from getting dry due to makeup.

9. If you have very dry skin then glycerin is your best friend! Apply glycerin all over the areas where your skin is too dry with a cotton ball, let it sit for at least 20 mins and then wash your face with your usual face wash. If you cannot get hold of glycerin then you could substitute it with coconut oil but remember not to leave coconut oil on your face overnight. Strangely enough it might dry your skin.

10. And finally, drink lots of water! Keeping yourself hydrated all round the year is very important in order to maintain healthy skin.

3 home made face packs -

One of the best and most easily available face packs in India is Multani Mitti. I am sure all of you have used this at least once and know exactly what I am talking about. Its quick and easy and gives great results!

Although this is a great option but sometimes its fun to try some new face packs especially when they can be made from things that are always there at home! So here are 3 simple and very effective home made face packs that are great for winters -

1. Lemon + Honey
Mix half a lemon with two teaspoons of honey and apply it all over your face. Keep it on for twenty minutes before washing it off and viola you're done. Who knew taking care of your skin could be that easy? This pack is great for dry and combination skin. Lemon is rich in Vitamin C while honey has anti inflammatory properties which will soothe itchy irritated skin.

2. Gram flour + Yogurt + Turmeric
Gram flour or better known as besan is available in everyone's houses. Mix a teaspoon of besan with 2 teaspoons of yogurt. Add a pinch of turmeric to this mixture and your face pack is ready. This pack is great for combination and oily skin. It also helps reduce any dark patches and acne scars. Turmeric is a natural antiseptic and avoids zits. Make sure you don't add a lot of turmeric though because a lot of it can stain your skin yellow.

3. Yogurt + Honey + Rose water
Mix a teaspoon of yogurt with two teaspoons of honey and rose water each to make this amazing face pack. This one is great for people with particularly dry skin which becomes worse during winters.

Everyone's skin is different and while some face packs might not work well for you, it might do wonders to others. So go ahead and try new packs until you find your holy grail face pack :D

Products I wish I had discovered earlier!

Hey guys!
We haven't been able to post a lot and that's only because both of us have exams going on and things have been quite hectic. :( We have been working hard to bring some great posts for you all! Thank you for all your love and patience. :)

Over the past few months I have been trying out a couple of new products and I have fallen in love with a few of them. My only regret is that I didn't discover them earlier! So for this week I decided to tell you guys all about them. I have mentioned all the prices under each one!
If you happen to try any of them then do let us know your take on it :)

Skin Care and Makeup -

Himalaya Purifying Neem Peel-Off Mask. You guys know how much I love Himalaya. I have already written a post reviewing a couple of their products. You can read about it right here. I had tried their Almond and Cucumber Peel-Off and I wasn't very impressed but I recently used the Neem one and it was amazing! It makes my skin feel so fresh while fighting pimples at the same time. It even peels off effortlessly unlike the Almond & Cucumber one. If you guys are looking for a new refreshing peel off then you should give this one a try!

Rs 70/-

Natures's Lacto Sun Tan Removal. This is undoubtedly one of the best tan removals I have come across. I found it at the nearest Ayurveda store and it is brilliant. I love the results and its completely natural so it doesn't have any adverse reactions to my skin. A lot of people use chemical bleaching tan removals which can cause a lot of damage to your skin. This product has milk and honey and it not only smells amazing but it also works really well.

Rs 85/-

Veda Earth Anti-Pigmentation Face Pack + Face Oil Combo. I got this combo from the same Ayurveda store mentioned above. This is a face pack + face oil combo which can be used everyday unlike other face packs which we generally use once or twice a week. It has a powder pack which has to be used with rose water for application and you can also mix the face oil to prevent drying. I haven't been using this everyday but I do try to use it every alternate day and I am loving the results. It has lightened all my spots and also helped fight blemishes. It gives a very beautiful glow to the skin when used regularly!

Rs 565/-

Clenz U Charcoal Nose Strips. I recently got introduced to nose strips. Before this I had never used a nose strip because I was scared it will just make my pores big. But I was very wrong and I am so glad I picked this up! I researched a lot on pore strips and found out that these should be used only once in 3-4 weeks and only if it's used in excess will it cause enlarged pores. If used right they are great to unclog pores! I find it so satisfying to use this charcoal nose strip as it unclogs all the pores on my nose giving me a fresh look. You can find this in your nearest Health and Glow store.

Rs 49/-

Plum NaturStudio all day wear kohl kajal. If you are a kajal lover then you must try this product! Priya and me love wearing kajal because it instantly glams up a dull look. This kajal is waterproof which makes it ideal for daily wear. Also it does not smudge so you don't have to worry about it smudging under your eye making it look like you've got really bad dark circles. It is very smooth and glides on the waterline effortlessly. It is definitely one of the best kajals I have gotten my hands on!

Rs 425/-

Body Care -

Nykaa Shower Gel. Priya gave me this shower gel in French Lavender in October and I love it so much that I have already finished most of it! I love the fragrance as it's very subtle and fresh. Nykaa has combinations of shower gels, perfumes and body lotions of the same flavor so that you don't have different fragrances getting mixed up due to different products and I love this concept. I also have the perfume in French Lavender and that smells exactly the same as the shower gel to maintain the fragrance!

Shower Gel - Rs 450/-
Fragrance Mist- Rs 700/-

Philips Satinelle Wet and Dry Epilator. I bought this epilator almost 6 months back and I wanted to use it a couple of times before telling you guys about it. This epilator is one of the best ways to take care of your body hair! It becomes practically painless after you have used it a couple of times. It also has a wet setting and that means you can use it in your shower but I personally feel that it works better when dry. It also has a shaving head just in case you don't feel like epilating. I feel it's very handy and it saves me a lot of time!

Rs 6495/-

Hair Care

Streax Hair Serum. I don't generally experiment a lot with hair products but I enjoy trying new hair serums and I love this one! It is infused with walnut oil which smoothens, softens and polishes the hair. I apply it on damp hair after washing it and the results are amazing. It gives a natural shine to my hair and makes it frizz free till my next hairwash. The results are long lasting and very impressive!

Rs 190/-

Hope you guys liked this post! :)

Onesta at BEL!

I have heard a lot of people rave about the unlimited deal at Onesta in its Indiranagar and other outlets across Bangalore, so I was quite excited when I got to know that their new outlet is opening in BEL Road. They opened here quite recently and its a pretty place located just above Mc Donalds in BEL.

A few weeks post it's official opening I ended up there with a couple of friends and we ordered three highly celebrated Onesta unlimited meals- one veg and two non- veg. These unlimited meals are great because you can order any one drink and have endless pizzas and desserts for just 350/- (for veg) and 450/- (for non-veg)!

For our drinks we ordered a Green Apple Cooler. Peach Iced Tea and Iced Cappuccino. The drinks were yum but I wasn't a big fan of the Iced Cappuccino.

Peach Iced Tea, Green Apple Cooler, Iced Cappuccino

So we ate a lot of pizzas! Here's what we had - 3 Cheese with Mushroom, Potato and Rosemary, Sausage and Onion, Barbecue Chicken, Roast Chicken and Prawn Pesto! I didn't particularly love any of the pizzas but they were all quite delicious. They were totally worth the money you spend here!

Dessert is my favorite part of the meal and Onesta serves bite-sized portions of all their desserts which is great because then you can try a lot of different varieties! We tried pretty much all their desserts and the Tiramisu and Black Forest Pudding were my favorite.

All in all, I wouldn't say Onesta serves the best pizzas in town but they sure are great for the money you pay! Also they have a lot of varieties so you will surely find a few that you'll really like!
We hope this was helpful :)

Flyrobe is a fashion rental website with brilliant options for all types of occasions, be it a fancy dinner date, brunch with your girls or your best friend's wedding, ANYTHING! They recently started renting out in our city and we couldn't be more excited :D They were kind enough to give us a Rs.600/- voucher to give Flyrobe our first shot and I must say, we were quite impressed.

From the packaging to the quality of clothes, everything was on point. Looks exactly like what we see in the pictures. Their rentals start only at Rs. 249/- and they spoil you with choices since they also rent out many international brands that are not available here.
