Lessons Learnt from being a Teenage Mess!

How messy was your teenage life? How many things did you do that you regret and how many inspired you to be a better person? Here are a few things all you teenagers should keep in mind and for the others, here's a trip back to memory lane! ❤

1. Bond with your parents.
Because they're everything and they are the only ones who will love you and support you no matter what. Give them all the respect and keep your bond strong because that is all that matters.

2. Letting go off the toxic relationships.
Because not everyone is meant to be in your life and the faster you learn that, the better it is. When some relationships are not meant to be, just let go.

3. Take a trip with your best friend.
Because why not? You might barely get time to see each other later on so make the most of what you've got.

4. Take care of your health and body.
Because trust me when I say this, it's very difficult later. Keep fit and eat healthy. Avoid binge eating and drinking. It will do you good years later.

5. Say NO to bullying.
Bullying can be of any form and it can give you a huge inferiority complex. Just remember, no one has the right to control anything you do and only you are the master of your decisions.
Also, don't bully because karma is a bitch!

6. Stop waiting to become 18.
Because it's not as exciting as it sounds unless you were waiting to get married. Sorry if we're being vibe killers :P

7. PLEASE explore your career options.
Do not follow the herd. Make a career in something you will love doing at any time of the day with zero regrets.

8. Study.
Because these are your crucial years and this is the basis for the many other things you are planning to do in life. Whatever you study, do it with all the determination. Also, failing is not cool. Work hard :)

9. Make a memory box.
You are not going to get these years back, are you? Capture all the important memories and keep them safe so that you can cherish them later.

10. Drown yourself in good books.
Just read a good book whenever you get the time. A good book always teaches you something amazing. It will also help you widen your perspective.

11. Pick a hobby and master it.
Be passionate about something! It could be anything from playing an instrument to a sport. If you love it, never let it go.

12. Learn how to face rejection.
Because not everything is going to work out your way all the time and it may hurt you like the worst bee sting but that's when you have to pick yourself up and move the hell on. There are better things ahead of you :)

13. Keep in touch with your high school teachers.
Trust me, you're going to miss them a lot later on.

14. It is always okay to experiment with your looks.
Because if not now then when?

15. Try and not do stupid things.
We know you don't have a control over these things most of the time because normal people tend to make silly decisions in the spur of the moment but what goes in trying, right?  For example: Don't over pluck your eyebrows :P

There must be many other things we as adults could relate to, this is just a throwback to a few of them. Also, I hope this helped a few of you teenagers out there to get a clear perspective of the do's and don'ts.
We'd love it if you have more things to add on to this list, do let us know :)

See you soon,
              - MYD :)

Lace It Up!

To be honest, I'm not a very dressy kind of person. I like to stay in my comfort zone and not get out of it, at all. In this front, Aditi and I are complete opposites. I was literally forced into buying this white lace dress during my birthday shopping in 2014 because she had a gut feeling it'd look great on me. I didn't even wear it on my birthday (Yeah, I'm stubborn too) and since then this has just been rotting in my closet.

So for this post, I thought, why not get out of the comfort zone and lace it up. And to my surprise, I could actually pull this look off. Also I'm glad I could finally make good use of this dress after two years!

To start off, I got the dress from ONLY, the beautiful ring from my friend who got it while street shopping in Mumbai and the bracelet is from this place called Kingdom of Dreams in Delhi (A must visit the next time you're in Delhi). The make-up is minimal with just the usual eyeliner, lipstick, blush and foundation. As you can see, you don't have to do much to look good in a white dress, it does all the work for you!

We were experimenting with the dress and found two new quirky ways to style it and they turned out to be pretty amazing! We hope you like them.

A little white dress looks flawless on any occasion from a casual Sunday brunch to a formal party!
I also think a statement neck piece would look great with it! Let us know if you have your own unique way of styling a LWD, we'd love to hear from you guys! <3

Until next time,

My Happy Pill (:

"To love unconditionally is the purest form of love. Regardless of what they think, you keep giving them your best wishes. In return, you will receive untold love and happiness."
On this Valentine's day, we would like to dedicate a post to one of the most genuine forms of love, friendship.

I could give a hundred reasons as to why I love my best friend but I'm sure I  would've still missed out on a few reasons. We have been inseparable for almost 10 years now and I can't imagine what my life would've been without her. We have been through a lot, from holding hands and freaking out at the not-at-all scary Fun World haunted house(we were in the 6th grade then, don't judge :P) to going all crazy and creative on every damn birthday and to actually starting something completely on our own, this blog.

Starting this blog has been one of the wisest decisions we've made and it makes us so happy, I can't even start to explain. It's definitely something we love dedicating our time to with zero regrets. And let me tell you, starting this blog was a very spontaneous decision and now, it's one of our top priorities and I don't think we'd have it any other way.

The name Messy Yet Dressy screams what our lives are like. We're so indecisive, confused and messed up in our heads sometimes but we end up figuring out a solution for anything and everything anyway. I hope this blog title makes more sense to you now :D

In a world where two girls posing together for a duck-face selfie becomes #bestiegoals, she proves to me what real "bestie goals" are about. Sometimes, I feel bad for the people who don't have that one constant in their lives; I have her, she's all I need. And in this world of very weak friendships, I know I struck gold and diamond together. She's done a lot for me and I couldn't thank her enough but I can promise to be by her side, forever.
Oh, I think she found herself a cheerleader! ;)

Team MYD wishes you all a very Happy Valentines Day! <3
Go out there and tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. :)

With too much love,
                      -MYD :)

Of flair and glares!

With the temperature rising everyday, I am sure a lot of you would have started going through your calenders meticulously to plan your weekend getaways. I sure have! As Bangalore doesn't have a beach the most popular short trips would be to coastal regions like Goa, Mangalore, Pondicherry, etc to bask in the sunshine.

Keeping that in mind I have combined three different looks which you could give a try on your next vacation. To me comfort is the key and in my opinion each of these looks are a perfect balance of comfort and elegance.

LOOK 1 :

I was never a fan of printed trousers until I got this beauty from Forever 21. The loose fit is quite flattering and it adds on to the comfort quotient. I paired it with a flowly solid colored crop top. I wanted the accesories to stand out yet be subtle. So i wore this bright neckpiece which I picked from a local store while I was travelling in Manali. I am wearing a simple silver watch and my favourite black ballerinas that I got from Max. I got my bag from a local store in Bangalore. (Yes, I absolutely love street shopping!) I love the size of the bag and I think its perfect to carry your essentials especially when you go sight seeing. When on a vacation no look is complete without sunglasses. I got these gorgeous purple tinted shades from Ayesha.

LOOK 2 :

When I have a long day ahead pallazos are always my go-to outfit. They are simple and extremely easy to style. You can never go wrong with a pair of monochrome pallazos. Normally I would have styled my black pallazos with a vibrant printed tank top but for this look I decided to go ahead and try an immensely underrated colour- grey. And to my surprise it worked out really well. I paired my outfit with a beautiful pendant and a statement grey ring. I got my funky hot pink flipflops from Westside. I wore my classic pair of UCB aviators to add a touch of panache to the look.

LOOK 3 :

This look is by far my favourite one as I went out of my comfort zone and tried styling a high-low wrap skirt. Wrap arounds scare the hell out of me as they just don't stay the way I want them to throughout the day. But after I tried these on I think my perception about wrap around clothing has completely changed. I love the print of the skirt and the high-low aspect just takes the look to a whole another level of cute. I am wearing my basic black tank top which I got from Forever 21. I chose the solid black top as I wanted the emphasis to solely be on the print of the skirt. The white shirt is completely optional and you could try it on if you are a huge white shirt fan just like me! I have kept the accesories minimalistic keeping the holiday aspect in mind. I am wearing my favourite peacock pendant chain which you guys might have already seen in my Bohemian Vibes post. If not, check it out here. The black ballerinas are the same as the one I sported in the previous look above.

All the looks featured in this post were created keeping two things in mind- comfort and style. I hope I could successfully incorporate both of those really important aspects in all the looks. If you try any of them do let us know! We would love to hear from you.

In case you guys are planning on a long holiday anytime soon do consider travelling to the stunning Andaman & Nicobar islands. You can read our Andaman story right here. :)

Lots of love,
MYD :)
