Be Your Own Hero!

How many times have you not done something because you are afraid of being judged? The thought of what your distant annoying aunties will say or the fear that you will fail at it, a fear that you've been breeding since your childhood? I am sure most of us have been there. I have definitely been there quite a few times. Recently I have not only learnt to face these monsters in my head but I have also learnt how to let go of such thoughts. Not sure what exactly I am talking about yet? Well, just keep reading.

Social anxiety disorder or the simple fear of being judged is something a lot of us suffer from unknowingly. We don't attempt new things because we are scared of how the society will react. Social anxiety disorder is unfortunately very common, in fact, one of the largest mental health problems today. Most of us deal with it up to some level at some point in our life. I know a lot of people who won't step out of their comfort zone because they are afraid that they will fail in whatever they do or because their peers might react adversely to it. Due to this a lot of us end up hating what we do but we do it anyway because its tagged apt by the society that we live in. If you're reading this then please make a note saying 'There will always be a pessimist no matter where you go. Do not let that affect you' and read it over and over again.

Have a passion for something different like music or dance or baking? Get up and get working on it. Open a store or teach others. Turn your hobbies into your passion and I assure you that you'll never regret it. It's just the first step that is difficult. Once you take that step the journey is only uphill. Don't let others get to you because people will always judge and most of them are the ones who are unhappy with their own lives. There are a lot of encouraging people out there who will support you throughout your journey. These are the people who may or may not know you personally but they will stand by you through all your endeavors and slowly they will become your family. They will support you and you should support them back in their journey. Always remember, appreciation and supporting others in their little endeavors goes a long way.

Have faith in yourself and trust your instincts. If you don't believe in yourself then how can you expect others to? Don't question your potential, you will never start off by being the best! Find your passion and work hard towards your goal. Put your heart and soul into it and sooner or later you will reach where you want to because chasing your dreams is never futile.

If Priya and I had contemplated too much then this blog would have never existed. We might not be the best out there but we definitely are passionate about what we do. We love what we are doing and it really helps us get away with our stressful college schedules. We are slowly picking up and learning how to make the best use of this little space we own on the internet. Everything takes time. You need to understand that. Patience is everything.

Things always don't work out the way you imagine it. There will be a lot of hurdles on the way but if you have faith in your passion then you will get through all of them. Things might not be perfect but I promise you that you will be able to find beauty in its flaws. If people put you down then get up and try harder the next time. Always remember, nothing is permanent. Don't let others define you. You should always be the one controlling your life, it's yours for a reason. Be your own hero.

Stay hungry. Stay foolish.

A Japanese Affair

Trying different type of cuisines is something one must never be afraid of. It might not always be a treat to your taste buds but its always worth a shot! And that's exactly what we decided to do last weekend. A few of my friends and I decided to try some Japanese food and trust me, it was so worth it.

Teppan is located very close to Ulsoor lake in Bangalore. I absolutely fell in love with the ambiance and feel of the place, very traditional and authentic. I wished they had the traditional Japanese seating arrangement but oh well!

Obviously sushi was on top of our 'what are we going to order' list. We ordered the Shake Maki. You can order a half (4 pc) or a full (8 pc) plate of sushi with a slight difference in their rates. This one consisted of spiced fresh salmon rolled with sushi vinegered rice, nari and cucumber. For a person trying sushi for the very first time, it was yum. Also, I loved the plating and all the little details. [Warning: The wasabi they provide along with it has a very strong taste. It gets to your head and you can probably feel the taste of it everytime you think of it :P]

We were all too excited so we wanted to try a bit of everything and the closest we could get to that was by ordering the Bento. It was basically like a combo meal which was not only healthy and nutritious but also the quickest way to treat our taste buds with some Japanese fare. We ordered two of those so that we could try the different food items included under it.
Bento no. 1:
Tori salad - lettuce+chicken+spicy mayo dressing topped with tempura crunch
Grilled chicken - chicken leg grilled in Japanese homemade teriyaki sauce
Maki(Sushi) - Sanaka maki - fish with vinegared rice and nori
Yaki udon vegetables - wheat noodles grilled with assorted vegetables in veg miso sauce

Bento no. 2:
Marugo salad - shredded grilled tune+cucumber+iceberg lettuce+lemon mayo dressing topped with tempura crunch and sesame seeds
Grilled tenderloin - tenderloin grilled in pepper steak sauce
Kerai sakana maki(Sushi) - fish delicately spiced and rolled with vinegered rice and nori
Niniku yakimeshi - Burnt garlic and vegetable fried rice

I love these traditional names of dishes even though they're like tongue twisters :P
The bento also included some yummy mocktails and desserts too!

But before we could dive into these mouth-watering desserts we were served by Mr. Shibu. We weren't full after having the bento so we decided to order chicken fried rice and prawn noodles. Mr. Shibu cooked those right in front of us on the cooking platform but before he actually got on to making the rice and noodles for us, he performed some mind blowing knife stunts and magic tricks! He was so lively and entertaining, it's hard to forget him. And to top it all off, he cooked us a great meal after!

The pricing of the place was pretty decent according to what we ordered and the quantity was good. By the end of it we were happy and satisfied with what we had.

We love telling you guys about new places and cuisines as and when we try them. :) Do let us know if you check out any of these places and how you like them.

We absolutely love shopping; be it clothes, footwear, accessories, makeup and what not, we want to buy it all. Although we enjoy shopping so much we don't always get enough time to actually get out of our house owing to our hectic college schedules. Hence we resort to online shopping! I am sure a lot of you can relate to this.

Recently, we discovered this amazing site called ShopBack and we thought of telling you guys all about it. ShopBack is a cashback site which helps online shoppers save money by reimbursing a portion of their purchases. It is a major cashback site well-known in Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines and now its making its grand debut in India and we couldn't be more excited about that!

Some major partners of ShopBack include Amazon, LimeRoad, Zivame, Chumbak, The Body Shop and many more. We shop online from most of these sites all the time, hence ShopBack is great for us. If you are anything like us and love shopping online then go ahead and explore this site!

ShopBack also works closely with these online stores to gain insider access to discount codes, coupon codes, and promo codes. This means that not only you will get lower prices from the sales price, but you’ll still receive cashback on top!

Maybelline Essentials

Hey guys!
So this week we decided to start the beauty section in our blog. Here we will tell you all about the different products that we are loving at the moment and also write a small review on them so that it will help you the next time you go shopping.  All the products mentioned in this section will be the ones that we have personally tried unless stated otherwise.
This post has not been sponsored and these are just a few products that we regularly use.

A year ago I knew nothing about makeup. I could associate makeup only with a few things like a foundation, a compact powder and a felt tip eyeliner (because it's much easier to use a felt tip as opposed to a gel or a pencil liner). Even though I barely knew how to apply makeup I was always very amazed by it. Recently I started binge watching beauty vloggers on YouTube, learnt a few makeup tricks and bought some makeup products. I am in no way a professional and everything that I write here is solely on my personal experience. I am a newbie to makeup and I have slowly started learning different tricks. So for today's post I thought it would be great if I write about a few makeup essentials that you must own if you are new to the makeup world and these products won't only help you create different new looks and experiment but will also easily fit in your budget.
Coincidentally all the products mentioned in this post are from Maybelline. Only when I started writing this post did I realize how much I love this brand. Maybelline makes some amazing products which last long, are great to use and are also very affordable.

I am going to talk about the basics at first which include my favorite felt tip liner, The Colossal Liner and two mascaras, Colossal Volum' Express waterproof mascara and the Falsies Volum' Express mascara.
I absolutely love my mascara. I am a sucker for beautiful long curled lashes but at the same time I have no idea how to put on false lashes. Falsies are my worst enemy. The Maybelline mascaras help me cheat the falsies look without actually wearing any! I love layering my two mascaras as it gives my eyes more dimension and also make my lashes look super long and curled. I particularly love the Falsies mascara as it has a slight curve in its wand which makes it very easy to reach the lashes near the inner corner of the eye.
The Colossal felt tip liner is always a life saver. Winged eyes are perfect if you want to add some drama to your otherwise boring outfits and this Maybelline liner makes that job super easy.

The next product that I am absolutely loving at the moment is Maybelline Lipgradation by colorsensational, The lipgradation lipsticks are a perfect combination of cream and matte. The formula is very smooth and it glides on the lips very easily. I bought the shade pink 2 which is the darkest pink in this range. It's a beautiful dark pink which I feel will suit all skin tones. The lipstick has a sponge eraser on the other side which can be used to blur the color to achieve an ombre look. Unfortunately the ombre didn't really work for me as I didn't quite like the entire effect but I would still highly recommend this lipstick because of its color and texture.

The final Maybelline product is the one that I saw everyone raving about and instantly decided to order it online. It is Maybelline The Nudes eyeshadow palette. I bought mine from the online cosmetic site, Nykaa. I love this product so much that I can go on and on about it. This palette has the perfect balance of matte and shimmery shades. You can create both a dramatic look or a soft everyday look using the same palette. It's amazing how you can just play with these shades. Get this palette and let the experimentation begin! The colors are moderately pigmented but are very buildable ,thus making it very easy to change a subtle day look to a bold party look. The palette can also be used for different purposes other than as an eye shadow. The champagne color on the top left can be used as a highlighter and the matte brown can be doubled up as a contour shade. Hence this palette is also travel friendly!

Here are two looks that I created using the products mentioned above and I just love how it turned out, I have blurred the lipstick in such a way so that it gives a slight pink tint to my lips. I did this only because I wanted the eyes to be the highlight!

I bought most of these products from Nykaa and I am amazed by their service. The products arrived before the expected delivery date which is always a good thing. They also have some discounts on the site most of the time which makes me very happy as I love sales!

I hope this post will help you shop the next time when you are wondering as to which product to buy. Do let us know if you are loving this section.
