Turmeric also known as the 'Golden Spice' can be found in all our kitchens. Other than being used in our food, turmeric has various different uses that you may not be aware of!

1. To heal wounds. Turmeric has antiseptic and antibacterial properties and can be used to heal a cut or a burn.

2. As a natural dye. It can be used to dye Easter eggs or as a DIY dye. Mix turmeric in water until you achieve the desired pigmentation.

3. To soothe pimples. A mixture of turmeric and rose water when applied directly to the zit helps it heal faster.

4. In face packs. Mix a little turmeric in your regular face pack for clear For and glowing skin.

5. To get rid of cough and cold. Gargle with hot water and turmeric to reduce cough and itching throat. This can also be done to treat ulcers.

6. Improves digestion. Drink turmeric milk once in a while to improve your digestion. It is also proven to increase immunity against common diseases.

7. To sooth illness or improve sleep. Add some turmeric to your tea and it will help you sleep better.

9. To reduce skin pigmentation. Make a mixture of turmeric powder, lemon and rose water and apply it directly on the affected area.

10. To heal cracked heels. Make a mixture of coconut oil and turmeric powder and apply it on the problem areas.

Apart from all these uses, turmeric has been scientifically proved to reduce the risk of cancer, provide relief to people suffering from arthritis, help with child leukemia, decrease chances of liver cirrhosis, lower cholesterol and fight against Alzheimer's disease!
