Day 19 - Easy & Effortless Makeup

Hey guys!
Today is the last beauty post of #20DaysWithMYD and it is one of the most requested posts - a simple and basic makeup look! Since we covered topics like skincare, finding the right foundation, lipstick hacks and tips to apply mascara in the past weeks, it now seemed apt to tell you all about my simple and go to make up routine.
My knowledge in makeup is very limited as I am not a makeup artist and this might not be the way you do your makeup. Whatever I know is what I have learned by a trial and error method and it's worked for me pretty well.
Now since that's out of the way keep reading to know how I do my make up. :D

This is a simple day look which you can pretty much wear anywhere and on any outfit. You can obviously jazz it up a bit depending on what kind of a look you are going for. :)

The first thing you need to do before applying any makeup product is to prep your face. You can do so by applying some sunscreen (DO NOT skip this!) and then a moisturizer over it. I make sure I use the moisturizer especially during winters so that my skin doesn't become flaky.

Next I start with my base makeup. Now this is the most important part of your entire routine. Getting your base right is really important to make your makeup look flawless. I use L'oreal's Infallible foundation and its a full coverage foundation. It's very build-able and blends into your skin seamlessly. If you need help in picking up a perfect foundation then do read my post on foundation basics.

Once you have got your foundation in place it's time for concealer. Now since it's a build-able full coverage foundation, I just double it up as a concealer and it works really well. I use a technique called baking under my eye. Its basically just blending in your concealer and then applying a coat of translucent powder on it for about 5 - 10 minutes and then dusting it off. This hides the dark circles very effectively and also sets your under eye makeup in place.
So while I bake my under eye area I move on to the other steps. I apply a thick layer of any lip balm and I do this to prep my lips for lipstick.

Now that the base makeup is almost sorted I move on to the eyes. I curl my lashes before applying liner because if I do this step after then I might remove off a little bit of the liner. After curling, I draw a very thin line using my gel eye liner and I do this because it looks very natural. I use Maybelline's gel eye liner for this step. This look doesn't use eyeshadows on the eye lids but if you are going for a more dramatic look then feel free to thicken up your eye liner and also add some shimmery eye shadow. Then I tight-line my upper and lower water line using my plum kajal. [Tight-lining is basically just applying a nice generous layer of kajal on the upper and lower water lines.] The last step is to apply mascara to give my lashes that extra lift. I use Maybelline's Colossal Volum Express Mascara.

By now my under eye would be set so I dust off the excess translucent powder and then apply a little bit of the champagne color from my Maybelline Nudes Palette in the inner corner of my eye. This step brightens up my eyes and makes my eyes look more open. I finish my eyes by setting my eyebrows in place using a spoolie. You can apply a brow gel at this point if you are filling in your brows. I am going to skip it because I don't generally fill my brows.

Now just use a compact powder to set your entire face. I use Maybelline's Super Fresh Compact. Once you have set your makeup, apply just a tinge of blush to the apples of your cheeks to give it that flush of color. For this look I have used Lakme's 9 to 5 blush as it's really subtle and natural.
Finally I have finished the look with some Maybelline's Lip gradation in the shade pink 2.

So here it is, a simple makeup look which is very easy to recreate. This look is something I wear a lot because it's very light and natural.
I believe that one should wear makeup not to look like someone else but to enhance the features that you already have. Wearing makeup is a personal choice and it's something I enjoy doing.
I hope this post answered all your questions. I have tried to break down every step. :)

We will be back tomorrow with our last post for this month! :)

Day 18 - The Cardigan Affair!

Hiii guys!
Layering my outfits has been quite the savior for me. Whenever I'm not sure of how to carry out an outfit, I turn to my cardigans! It happens quite often actually :P
For day 18, I decided to show you guys the different types of cardigans you can own. I've paired all of them with a black pair of ripped denims and a black top because, well, you can never really go wrong with black! The pop of color from the cardigans to your black outfits looks amazing as well. These are very comfortable and simple to style with almost any kind of outfit.  A hit and trial always works out and you'll know what works best with what kind of clothes, be it printed or the basics!

I love anything with tassels. They're adorable and they give quite the edge to a simple outfit. Be it a summer dress or just shorts and a tank top, this is a perfect blend of colors can be casually thrown over any outfit.

 The Semi Formal

A semi formal jacket like this one is really versatile as you can wear it for dinners or brunches, Layer it over your shorts or jeans to give it a more chic look or just throw it on your little black dress for that formal dressed up evening!

 Classic Blue

This is a lovely piece which gives a very laid back and chirpy vibe and is one of my favorites. You can wear this on a simple monochrome dress to jazz it up or style it with jeans like I have.

The White Beauty

You can never go wrong with white either and black and white is a classic combination and also an all time favorite. A white net cardigan can glam up any style and make you look like a million bucks! The detailing on this one is very feminine and classy. Something like this is great for layering during summer.

 The Denim Vest

I feel a denim vest is a must have in every girl's wardrobe. It's simple yet really really stylish and it can instantly elevate your outfit. It's not only super cute and fun but it can also be worn over pretty much anything!

I love cardigans, they add quirk to your simple outfits instantly! And you know what the best part is? It's completely hassle free :D It's so easy to carry off and you don't even have to think twice about how you look before you step out. Hope this post gave you an insight of the different types you can wear to up your cardigan game! ;)

Until next time! x

Day 17 - The Mascara Talk

Hey guys :D

I got into makeup last year and I have to admit that it's addicting. More than anything I love sharing everything I know with you all! If you know anything about me or if you have followed my previous posts then you must be aware of my obsession with long curled eyelashes. I envy people who have natural long voluminous lashes. Also lashes are the first thing I notice when I meet someone new! (I know that's super weird :P)
In the past few weeks I did a few basic posts about foundations and lipsticks. I left the best for the last, mascara! Mascara is definitely one makeup product I cannot survive without. I feel a good mascara can transform your entire look drastically. My favorite mascara is Maybelline's Colossal Volum Express mascara. It makes my lashes appear longer and gives them more volume!

I know wearing mascara can be tricky but after reading today's post I am sure you will go pick your mascara wand and end up applying it perfectly. Here are some of my favorite tips to help you get perfect lashes every time!

1. Use an eyelash curler! This is a step I am guilty of skipping too but that was because I was scared I will pull out my lashes with it! But trust me that doesn't happen. It works wonders on your lashes and gives then the curl they need to look amazing.

2. Find the right wand. Get yourself a wand depending on what you want your mascara to do. If you want more volume then go for a voluminous mascara otherwise pick one which makes your lashes look longer and gives it the falsies effect, There are many mascaras out there so go on and experiment.

3. Wipe off excess mascara from the wand. Doing this will help prevent clumps.

4. Apply the mascara from the root to the tip. Don't just neglect the roots. Your lashes will look flimsy otherwise.

5. Don't forget to wiggle you wand. You need to wiggle the wand to make sure each lash gets coated separately.

6. Apply your mascara generously in coats. You don't have to stick to one coat, you can layer them on for a more dramatic effect.

7. Don't forget your lower lashes. Don't neglect your lower lashes. Coating them too makes your eyes look more balanced.

8. Remove your waterproof mascara with coconut oil. This is definitely one of the best ways to remove your mascara. The coconut oil not only melts away the mascara easily but also nourishes your lashes.

9. If you feel your mascara has dried up then soak the closed bottle in a tub of hot water for 5 minutes before application. It will loosen up your mascara.

10. Just like any other makeup product mascara has a shelf life too. Replace it every 4 - 6 months.

Hope these tips helped you :)
See you tomorrow with a brand new post.

Day 16 - Pamper Yourself!

Hey guys!
Can't believe MYD is gonna turn 1 in just 4 days! :D
For today's post I thought I should share my pamper evening routine because who doesn't like pampering themselves? :P I have been having such pamper sessions for years now but the routine keeps changing. And honestly I feel this is a great way to unwind without spending thousands of rupees at spas. I make sure I do this at least twice a month and also on days when I am not feeling too good about myself.
So sit back while I take you through my current pamper evening routine and essentials.

1. The first thing I do is oil my hair with my favorite coconut + olive oil mix. I massage the oil well into my scalp and I do this step first so that my hair gets enough time to get pre-conditioned.

2. The next thing I do is scrub and cleanse my face and also use a sugar scrub on my lips. Exfoliation is the key to soft smooth skin. I normally use Himalaya scrubs to exfoliate my face.

3. After exfoliating and cleansing my face I move on to a face mask. I use a wide variety of face masks and just choose one randomly. I generally pick a clay mask or one of my trusty Himalaya face packs.

4. While my mask dries, I clean my makeup brushes. During the week I am guilty of not deep cleaning my makeup brushes so I make sure I do that on such evenings.

5. All of this takes approximately 30 mins post which I take nice long bath using my favorite body scrubs. I use Tresemme's Keratin Shine range or the Spa Rejuvenation range to wash and condition my hair.

6.  Then I moisturize my skin using a body cream and get into my favorite comfy pajamas. I massage my face using the essential oil mix. I also use a heavy lip balm for my lips. Currently I have been obsessing over Biotique's almond overnight therapy lip balm.

7. Then I fill 1/4th of a bucket with some warm water mixed with a little Epsom salt and soak my feet in it for 15 to 20 minutes. This step really relaxes you and makes your feet super soft. The reason I do this after taking a bath is because this step makes me really sleepy! :P

8. While I soak my feet I read a book or reply to all unacknowledged messages.

9. After this I cut my toe nails because cutting your nails is the easiest after soaking them.

10. I make sure my hair is all dried up and if it's not then blow dry it and go to sleep! :D

I hope you guys liked this routine and it maybe gave you ideas for your next pamper evening. Unwinding is really important because in our busy schedules we always forget to take care of ourselves! Trust me you will get the best sleep after this routine and you'll wake up fresh the next day ready to take on this world. :P

See you tomorrow :)x

Day 15 - New Eateries in Bangalore!

Gooood evening guys!
I don't think we can ever stop ranting about how amazing Bangalore is. With a new eatery opening almost every second day, it surely is one of the most happening cities in the country :D
On Day 15 of #20DayswithMYD, we're here with a list of new hang out spots in Bangalore for you to check out!

1. Glocal Junction, Indiranagar
I have to say, I like the way they serve their drinks, it's pretty unique. The place is pretty huge and has a very chill vibe. A little on the pricey side but a good place to hang out and celebrate an occassion or so!

2. Aubree, Sadashivnagar
Cute little bakery with some brilliant flavors to serve. They serve some lovely cakes, pastries, chocolates, cupcakes, and what not.. Basically, it's heaven for all you guys with a sweet tooth. Also, the plating is amazing and prices are reasonable.

 3. Tipsy Bull, Indiranagar
This s a bar exchange and the concept is similar to your stock exchange markets. The prices of all the drinks and cocktails keep changing every minute and it just depends on complete luck. Apart from this unique concept and great ambience, the place serves some amazing thin crust pizza. The place has crazy vibe for a fun evening with your buddies!

4. Communiti, Brigade road
Love the ambience, yummy food and cocktails, reasonable pricing and great staff! what more could you ask for? Quantity of the food may be a little less but it's totally worth the rates. It's located in the most bustling streets of the city and it's pretty amazing for a chill evening.

5. The Druid Garden, Sahakar Nagar
I am so glad that these kinda places are opening in the North part of Bangalore and I must say, this place is quite posh and surprisingly huge for where it's located. It's a  great place to chill and have some amazing food and drinks! The staff is extremely friendly and the pricing is decent. You should check it out, if you haven't already!

Day 14 - Olive Beach

Hey hey :)
I went to Olive Beach today for brunch and I loved the place so much that I decided to tell you guys all about it. :)
Olive Beach is a lovely restaurant with Greece-like vibes. The place is beautiful and is great especially during the day because you can click some amazing pictures! They serve European and Mediterranean cuisines with a diverse menu so there's something for everyone. Olive Beach is slightly on the expensive side but it's still a great place to unwind and catch up with family or friends. We got a great deal because we ordered from the set menu which charged us Rs. 699/ per person (excluding taxes) for a 3 course meal.

All of us ordered BBQ Chicken Salad as our starter. I am generally not a very big fan of salads but this one was really yummy. There was more chicken that the actual salad and that made all of us very happy. :P You will love this salad especially if you enjoy barbecue sauce.

BBQ Chicken Salad

We ordered three different dishes for our main course - Cajun Chicken, Prawn Pasta and Za'atar Spiced Chicken. At most restaurants at least one main course doesn't taste as good as the rest but that was not the case in Olive Beach. All of the dishes were a delight to our platter and we loved each one of them. They were perfectly seasoned and balanced and the quantities were just right.

Cajun Chicken

Prawn Pesto Pasta

Za'atar Spiced Chicken

Now comes my favorite part of the meal, desserts! We ordered Rocky Road, Yogurt Cheesecake and Salted Caramel to satisfy our sweet cravings. I was very impressed with the Salted Caramel. The plate was presented with perfection and it tasted just as good as it looked. The only downside of our entire meal was the Rocky Road. The chocolate sauce tasted a little funny and just the overall dish didn't go too well with any of us. So I would definitely not recommend that. The Yogurt Cheesecake was great but the quantity was really tiny and that's why we decided to order another dessert, Tiramisu. The Tiramisu had just the right balance of coffee and cream and I would highly recommend it.

Olive Beach is a great place with a lovely beachy ambiance. The staff and the service is very warm and welcoming. I loved the place and I cannot wait to go back. It's definitely one of the prettiest restaurants in Bangalore that also serves delicious food!

Day 13 - Favorite Scents!

Hey guys!
How's Friday the 13th treating you? It's Day 13 of #20DayswithMYD and we're excited to show you guys our personal favorite fragrances!

Victoria's Secret body mists are a must-have according to us. They are light, long-lasting and smell divine. You can see that Secret Charm is almost over and needs to be re-stocked. Pure Seduction is a personal favorite amongst the ones shown above.

Never thought that Nykaa fragrance mists could be this amazing! You might have already seen us rave about it in our list of products we wish we had discovered earlier. The one above is called French Lavender is its got a very fresh and soothing fragrance.

I absolutely LOVE the fragrances of these two Zara perfumes which explains why they're almost over. The bigger one  is the Zara Tulle and the travel size one is the Zara Oriental. The smell is mild and perfect for any kinda day out.

Who doesn't love them some Versace? :D This fragrance is a bit strong but equally divine! And I cannot get over how amazing the packaging is.

This is a light fragrance by Bath and Body Works. Love the hint of pineapple and guava in this one! It's not over the top and just a perfect mild fragrance that makes you smell great.

This is one of my most favorite range from VS. These are the perfect travel size fragrance crayons, easy to apply and they last for about 6-10 hours and what's the icing on top? They smell amazing! Heavenly and VS Bombshell are my personal favorites.

Firstly, lets take a minute and admire how gorgeous this perfume bottle looks <3 This scent from Bvlgari is so fresh and aqua that you cannot get tired of it. It gives you the vibe to stay active all day!

These are some scents we absolutely adore and can't get over. We'd love too know what your favorite fragrances are.

Until next time! x
